Install from Chrome Web Store
SaveMate v2.0 is available on the Chrome Web Store and works with all Chromium-based browsers.Open the extension page
Visit the SaveMate Chrome Web Store page in your browser.
Confirm permissions
A dialog will appear asking you to confirm the extension’s permissions. Click Add extension to proceed.SaveMate requests only the permissions needed for stream detection. See Supported Browsers for details on each permission.
Installation complete
You’ll see a confirmation message and the SaveMate icon will appear in your browser’s extension area. We recommend pinning the extension for easy access.

Edge and Brave users install from the same Chrome Web Store link. These browsers natively support Chrome extensions.
System requirements
- Operating system: macOS, Windows, or Linux
- Browser: Any Chromium-based browser with Manifest V3 support (Chrome 88+, Edge 88+, Brave 1.20+)
- Internet: Required for installation and stream detection. Downloads can be watched offline.
Privacy and security
SaveMate has been verified by the Google Chrome Web Store security team:- All video processing happens locally in your browser
- No browsing data is collected or transmitted
- No analytics or tracking scripts
- Stream detection runs entirely within the extension sandbox
- Extension source uses strict Content Security Policy (
script-src 'self'; object-src 'self')
Configure the extension
After installation, you can customize SaveMate from the options page:- Format filtering — Choose which video and audio formats to detect
- Minimum file size — Filter out small files (10KB, 100KB, 1MB, 2MB, or custom)
- Download management — Enable browser download API for custom file naming and save location
- Download path — Set a custom folder prefix for organized downloads
- Chromecast — Toggle Chromecast casting support
- Blocked sites — Exclude specific domains from detection
Updating the extension
Chrome, Edge, and Brave automatically update extensions in the background. You’ll always have the latest version without any manual steps. To check your current version:- Right-click the SaveMate icon in your toolbar
- Select Manage extension
- Your version number is displayed on the extension details page
