SaveMate lets you cast detected video streams directly to Chromecast and AirPlay-compatible devices, so you can watch on the big screen.

How to cast

Detect a stream

Navigate to a page with video content. Wait for the SaveMate icon to light up.

Open the cast player

Click the SaveMate icon and select the Cast option for the detected stream. This opens the SaveMate cast player.

Choose your device

The cast player will show available Chromecast and AirPlay devices on your local network. Select your TV or display.

Start casting

The video stream begins playing on your selected device. Use the on-screen controls to play, pause, seek, and adjust volume.

Cast player features

The SaveMate cast player provides a full playback experience:
  • Play/pause/seek — Standard playback controls
  • Volume control — Adjust volume from the player interface
  • Quality selection — Choose stream quality based on your network and device
  • Thumbnail preview — See a preview of the stream before and during casting
  • Session management — Each cast session gets a unique identifier for tracking

Availability

Chromecast and AirPlay casting is available on both Free and Professional plans. No account required — casting works for anonymous users too.

Technical details

  • Cast sessions are UUID-based for secure, unique identification
  • Sessions automatically expire after 2 hours of inactivity
  • Thumbnails are polled during active sessions for preview updates
  • The cast player uses HLS.js for adaptive bitrate streaming to the cast device

Requirements

  • A Chromecast, Chromecast with Google TV, or AirPlay-compatible device
  • The cast device must be on the same Wi-Fi network as your computer
  • A Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, or Brave)
